Pumpkin Dessert Squares

Ingredients
Crust
1-3/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
First Layer
2 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
Second Layer
1 envelope unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup cold water
1 (16-ounce) can pumpkin
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3 egg whites
1/4 cup sugar
Directions
To Prepare Crust
Mix the crumbs, margarine and sugar and pat into buttered 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
First layer
Combine cream cheese, sugar and 2 eggs. Beat until white and fluffy. Pour over crust and bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
Second layer
Dissolve the gelatin in the 1/4 cup of cold water in a small saucepan, (stir until completely dissolved), and cook over low heat until totally dissolved; set aside. Cool
Beat egg yolks; add sugar, milk, salt, cinnamon and pumpkin in medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick (about 6-7 minutes). Add dissolved gelatin to hot pumpkin mixture. Cool
Beat egg whites until foamy and add 1/4 cup sugar and beat until stiff and glossy. Fold into pumpkin mixture and pour into baked crust. Top with whipped topping and nuts.
Keep refrigerated.
