NANTUCKET CRANBERRY PIE

        INGREDIENTS
        2 cups raw cranberries
        1 1/2 cups sugar
        1/2 cup chopped walnuts
        3/4 cup softened butter
        2 (beaten) eggs
        1 cup flour
        1 tsp. Almond extract
         
        DIRECTIONS
        Wash and dry cranberries. Spread over bottom of 10" (ungreased) piepan
        Sprinkle 1/2 cup nuts over berries
        Add 1/2 cup sugar on top of the nuts
        IN SEPARATE BOWL, cream butter and remaining 1 cup sugar.
        Add to creamed mixture the beaten eggs, flour, and almond extract. Mix well
        Pour or spoon over top of layered berry mixture. (This will be thick, so may have to use spatula to spread it)
        Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes
        Serve with dollops of whipped cream
